Provisional monuments
Don't bother me, a long time was a driving force, now it's an inconsistency. I work on the image of man facing death through the recumbent. The consciousness of death is the fundamental and founding anthropological breach. Its language is that of the imaginary, long used by the ritual. This one appears with the burial. The artistic practice draws its origin there; death is iconophile. Besides, my main interventions take place in disused religious buildings. By stealing death, our post-industrial societies disorient the individual, the trajectory of each being constructed by its origin and its end. As René Girard writes "the foundation of culture is the tomb". Since 1990, I have been creating monumental works that I call: Provisional Monuments. They are imaginary tombs, accidental stages of a funeral journey. The recumbent figure gives it the human and mystical dimension. The Provisional Monuments are architectural ideas designed for painting, they are large polyptychs mounted on scaffolding, designed in separate panels with a basic measurement of three meters, to allow an interaction between the installations, the reuse of previous work. or the restructuring of the same work into different proposals. They are always accompanied by peripheral works, which can be preparatory works, or works created for or during the event of which they will be the only materiality. All the elements of all the provisional monuments can be syntaxed as in an eco-system. This work process tends towards a complex work. The finality would be a labyrinth, I am at the door.
